HMS Jupiter

Loved the Jupiter had some great times and great visits on the old girl.

H.M.S. Jupiter

Leander Class Frigate

After leaving the Apollo I was sent to HMS Dryad to do another radar course, before joining the Jupiter, the Jupiter was a really good ship, another Leander class frigate very similar to the Apollo but this time not Portland squadron!I met some brilliant mates on the Jupiter and thought I would mention a few of them in case they are reading this and might want to get in touch. John Winfield, Ross Merrick, Pete Wale, Geoff Briggs, George Connor.
The Jupiter was captain of the seventh frigate squadron which basically meant we had a real four ring captain as opposed to the rest of the squadron which had three ring commanders as captains.
One memorable moment on the Jupiter was taking part in the Queens silver jubilee. We were part of the Spithead fleet review, when we used to have enough ships to have a fleet review. I will never forget practicing the three cheers for when the Queen sailed passed, we had to shout hip hip horay and wave our caps in a circular motion three times. It was quite embarrasing doing it alongside one weekend, the only people who saw it were a couple of dockys going past in a small boat.Great ships company on the Jupiter, I really enjoyed my time onboard, we also visited the best places, like the West Indies.
Without a doubt my second favorite ship after HMS Arrow.
