I joined the Royal Navy what seems like 100 years ago now but was in fact on August 31st 1971.
I joined at HMS Ganges and spent 6 months there doing my basic training, I decided to train as a radar operator and after finishing my basic training at Ganges was posted to HMS Dryad to do my radar training. 6 weeks later I was ready to join my first real warship, this turned out to be HMS Berwick, please click the links above to read about my experiences on various ships and shore bases.
